In and around the Canberra region, natives such as Murray cod, golden perch and silver perch will often go off the bite as Winter approaches but there are some unusual techniques that will yield surprising results.



It is a well-known fact that most native species bite best when the water is warm. When it is cold they rarely bite at all. As the water temperature cools, so do the fishes' appetites because their food source disappears. They then begin to hibernate.
