Rattlin’ Macks by Dave Magner

Everyone knows that rattling bibless lures are great bass lures but a lot of anglers forget that they are also great mackerel lures.

When you take a good look at one of these bibless rattlers, such as Cordell Rattlin' Spot, it's not hard to see why. With thin bodies and broad sides, these lures do a great imitation of the deep-bodied herring that mackerel love to feed on.

When trolled at a bit of pace, these flat-sided minnows send out heaps of fish attracting vibrations. When you factor in those fancy metallic finishes which flash all over the place, it's no wonder why mackerel find them so hard to resist. Spots are exceptionally noisy lures too, which also helps them to arouse the curiosity of any prowling mackerel and this can be a great help when conditions are a bit murky...
